Final Site

Here is the address to final drupal site for Portibi Organik. http://portibiorganik.com/drupal/

I ended up adding the Image module so I could add a picture to the "About us" page. This module should make it easy for people to add pictures to their blog posts as well.

Pavel - I used the directions you sent us about changing the domain name, but it said I couldn't add portibiorganic.com as a site because it was already the parent domain. Is there another way around this or did anyone else run into this problem?

Have a great summer everyone!

Full Force!

Here's the link to my final website: http://katylovin.com/drupal/

As you can see, the website's url is still the same. I've been in contact with my client about changing it but haven't heard from her whether she wants to keep the same site name she has now (fullforcegymnastics.com) or change it to something else (ffg.com, fullforcegymnasticsva.com, etc) so once I hear from her, that will be changed as well.

Website Final-- Jessi Lewis

Well,

It seems that any more work here may put my final in jeopardy, so I thought I should go ahead and place it online.  Since the class saw the site last, it has gained a logo/title and additional images in the "Sketches" portfolio.  The remaining work that needs to be done requires consultation with the client in order for us to establish his Facebook identity and calendar events.  Once we've cleared that up and made sure that he approves of his logo, the site will go online under its official name.  But, for now, it will have to remain here:

Usability Testing for Your Site

Here is a useful link if you want to know more about testing the usabulilty of web 2.0 sites.

Notice the warming against feature creep--same caution that we saw in the social design book.

A Mini-Usability Test Next Week

We will conduct a usability test on your sites next week.

Assignment for Tuesday, April 12

Hi all,

This coming Thursday, I am going to the C's in Atlanta, so no class. In the meantime, please work on your site. By the 12th, I'd like to see an "alpha" version of the site. Here is what I'd like it to containt/look like:

i digg it

I like the concept of Digg. I actually went to the website when I was doing the reading to see how it worked, mainly because I had never heard of it before, much less used it. I’m not sure if I was expecting a more professional kind of site, or a more “newsworthy” site, but one of the top stories when I went on the site was a picture of Jonah Hill where he had supposedly lost weight. Which kind of leads me to the point I kept going back to the whole time I was reading. Anyone can go on the site and read stories, but the ones that are going to get read the most are the ones with the most diggs. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that those are the stories worth reading. It’s kind of like how the dumbest video clips are the ones that get the most views on Youtube.

Motivate Me....NOW

The trick is to create......"interfaces that support and encourage these motivations."

The working world needs us

http://www.careerrookie.com/Article/CB-159-Job-Info-10-Careers-That-Didn...

I feel like we've read this article or something similar to it before.. Maybe in 510 last semester possibly. Either way, I came across it again and thought I'd share. 1 and 7 are my faves, although 10 pertains to our field too. Not to mention, I want to read the book "140 Characters" referenced at the beginning of the article. Aaaaanyways, enjoyyy

i love class and blogs and reading.

this is me, doing my blog early because i get to spend the rest of spring break doing more work. sweet.

Chapters 5 and 6 of the reading focus on
participation and collective use of these social systems. I find myself interested in the social concept of the example in chapter 6 with Digg. Maybe it’s just that I never used the site, and I understand that the more people “dig” your article, the better it is, and the more likely it is that you’ll show up on the front page: but a question I’ve had for a while in this class is how do you even find something on a website like this to “dig” that everyone else is finding as well?
